1. Different Manners 各種各樣的禮貌
manner的意思是“方式;態(tài)度;習(xí)慣”。
e.g. He spoke to me in a proper manner.
他以恰當(dāng)?shù)姆绞礁艺f話。
Her manner showed her anger.
她的態(tài)度顯示出她的憤怒。
He has a lazy manner, so he wouldn’t like to do the job together with me.
他很懶,所以不想跟我一起干活。
表示“禮貌,禮儀;風(fēng)度;規(guī)矩;風(fēng)俗;生活方式”時(shí),要用manners。
e.g. If you have no manners, you will not be respected by others.
如果沒有禮貌,你就不會(huì)受到別人的尊重。

狀語從句
在復(fù)合句中,修飾主句中的動(dòng)詞、形容詞或副詞等的從句叫作狀語從句。狀語從句根據(jù)其用途可分為時(shí)間、地點(diǎn)、原因、條件、比較、結(jié)果、目的、讓步、方式等狀語從句。
現(xiàn)在著重談?wù)刟lthough, though引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句:
although是連詞,相當(dāng)于though,意為“雖然;即使;縱然”,引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句。
需要注意的是,在漢語的表達(dá)中,我們經(jīng)常會(huì)說,“盡管 / 雖然……,但是……”,而在英語中,although / though和but是不能同時(shí)使用的。
e.g. Though / Although it’s difficult to realize her dream, she never gives up.
雖然她的夢(mèng)想很難實(shí)現(xiàn),但她永不放棄。
Though / Although it has been dark, we haven’t found a hotel.
天雖然已經(jīng)黑了,但是我們還沒有找到旅店。
