Facts about Peking Opera

1. It combines music, vocal performance, mime(手勢(shì)), dance and acrobatics(雜技,雜耍);the instruments include jinghu and erhu.

2. Facial make-up(mask)is very important; the costumes are graceful, elegant (優(yōu)雅的) and brilliant in color and design. They both tell a character’s sex(性別) and status(身份地位)at first glance. 

3. Stages are square platforms exposed to the audience on three sides with very few props(道具)on the stage. 

4. Dance movements and acrobatic(雜技)movements are basic skills.

1 To prove that Peking Opera is a better way to perform Hamlet.
