⊙The police made an appeal to the public to remain calm.
警方吁請公眾保持鎮(zhèn)靜。
⊙He appealed to his countrymen not to lose heart.
他呼吁自己的同胞不要喪失信心。
【語法講練】
1. 現(xiàn)在分詞(短語)在句子中可作狀語,來修飾謂語動詞或整個句子,表示動作發(fā)生的時間、原因、條件、結(jié)果、讓步或伴隨等情況,F(xiàn)在分詞(短語)作狀語一般表示一個次要的動作,一般都可以變?yōu)橄鄳?yīng)的狀語從句或并列句。
2. 不同的形式
主動 被動 時間意義
一般式doing being done 與謂語動作同時進行或緊接著發(fā)生
完成式having done having been done 發(fā)生在謂語動作之前
3.不同的功能
◆作時間狀語
現(xiàn)在分詞(短語)作時間狀語常位于句首,可以變?yōu)閣hen/as/while/after等詞引導(dǎo)的狀語從句。
【典例呈現(xiàn)】
◎Hearing the bad news, they couldn’t help crying.
=When they heard the bad news, they couldn’t help crying.
當聽到這個不幸的消息時,他們情不自禁地哭了起來。
◎Having received his letter, I decided to write back.
=After I had received his letter, I decided to write back.
收到他的信后,我決定給他回信。
◆作原因狀語
現(xiàn)在分詞(短語)作原因狀語置于句首,可以變?yōu)閎ecause/as等詞引導(dǎo)的原因狀語從句。
【典例呈現(xiàn)】
◎Being so angry, he couldn’t go to sleep.
=Because he was so angry, he couldn’t go to sleep.
因為太生氣了,他不能入睡。
◎Having been to the Great Wall many times, he didn’t go last week.
=Because/As he had been to the Great Wall many times, he didn’t go last week.
因為他已經(jīng)去過長城許多次,所以上周他就沒去。
