(1)request sb.to do sth.請(qǐng)求/要求某人做某事

1.部分否定

(教材P20)Nowadays, some people choose to have the dinner in a restaurant, but not everyone is keen on this idea.

現(xiàn)在,有些人選擇在餐館吃飯,但并不是每一個(gè)人都喜歡這個(gè)主意。

本句中的not everyone=everyone...not為部分否定, 表示 “并非每一個(gè)人……都……” 。部分否定通常有以下幾種情況: 

(1)否定詞與 all, both, every, everyone, everything等連用(不管否定詞放在什么位置);

(2)否定詞和always, often等連用。 

①—What do you think of the songs?

——你認(rèn)為這些歌曲怎么樣?

—As a matter of fact, not every one of them sounds beautiful.

——事實(shí)上,并不是每一首歌曲都好聽。

②All these books are not popular with people.

=_________ these books are popular with people.

這些書并非全都受人們的歡迎。

③Both of the two maths problems are not very difficult.

這兩道數(shù)學(xué)題并非都很難。

2. not only...but also... 不但……而且……

(教材P21)It was not only for the delicious food that we seldom got to eat, but for the opportunity to have our whole family gathered together.

不但是因?yàn)槲覀兒苌俪缘降拿牢兜氖澄,而且還是因?yàn)橛袡C(jī)會(huì)讓我們?nèi)揖墼谝黄稹?/p>

(教材P23)What’s more, not only are these attended and enjoyed by Chinese citizens living abroad, but by many other nationalities, too.

另外,不僅海外的中國(guó)公民參加并享受這些活動(dòng),許多其他民族也參加了。

not only...but also...句型,意為“不但……而且……”,連接兩個(gè)并列成分。

(1)not only...but also...連接兩個(gè)表示并列關(guān)系的成分,著重強(qiáng)調(diào)后者,其意為“不但……而且……”;其中的also有時(shí)可以省略。

(2)若連接兩個(gè)句子,且not only位于句首時(shí),not only后面的句子要用部分倒裝。

(3)若連接的兩個(gè)成分作主語(yǔ),其謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞的數(shù)通常與靠近的主語(yǔ)保持一致。
