2.Pronunciation—英式英語和美式英語在讀音上的區(qū)別
英式英語和美式英語在讀音上的差異主要反映在元音字母a,o和輔音字母r的不同讀音上。
(1)在ask,can’t,dance,fast,half,path 這一類的單詞中,英國人將字母a讀作/aː/,而美國人則讀作/æ/,所以這些詞在美國人口中就成了/æsk/,/kænt/,/dæns/,/fæst/,/hæf/和/pæθ/。
(2)在box,crop,hot,spot這一類單詞中,英國人將字母o讀作/ɒ/,而美國人則將o讀作近似/aː/音的/a/。所以這些詞美國人讀起來就成了/baks/,/krap/,/hat/和/spat/。
