1．基本用法
(1)用作________代詞，代替前面提到過(guò)的事物。例如：
This is a new dictionary. I bought it yesterday.
這是一本新詞典，我昨天買(mǎi)的它。
(2)代替________代詞，相當(dāng)于this或that。例如：
—What's that？那是什么？
—It's an MP3. 它是一部MP3。
(3)表示某人(who，someone，somebody等)的身份，還可指代不明性別的人或嬰兒(baby)等。例如：
Someone is coming upstairs. It must be the postman.
有人上樓來(lái)了，一定是郵遞員。
—Go and see who is knocking at the door.去看看誰(shuí)在敲門(mén)。
—It's Bill.是比爾。
(4)指________、距離、自然現(xiàn)象(天氣、氣候、明暗)、度量、價(jià)值等。例如：It's Sunday today.今天是星期天。
It's three months since he came here.他到這里已經(jīng)三個(gè)月了。
How far is it to the Great Wall?到長(zhǎng)城有多遠(yuǎn)？

2．it的句法功能
這時(shí)的it沒(méi)有詞義，只是幫助改變句子結(jié)構(gòu)，使句子顯得平衡一些或強(qiáng)調(diào)某一句子成分。
(1)用作________主語(yǔ)。
it作形式主語(yǔ)時(shí)置于句首，而將作真正主語(yǔ)的動(dòng)詞不定式(短語(yǔ))、動(dòng)名詞(短語(yǔ))或主語(yǔ)從句放到后面。例如：
It is necessary to ask the teacher for help.向老師求助是必要的。
It hasn't been decided whether to hold a meeting this week.
本周是否召開(kāi)會(huì)議還沒(méi)有決定。
常用于下列句型中：
①I(mǎi)t is ＋adj.＋(for sb.) to do sth. 意為“(對(duì)某人來(lái)說(shuō))做某事……”。例如：
It's important for us to protect the environment. 對(duì)我們來(lái)說(shuō)保護(hù)環(huán)境(很)重要。
②It's time to do/for/that… 意為“到……時(shí)間了”。例如：
It's time to get up/for supper/that we go to school.是起床/吃晚飯/上學(xué)的時(shí)間了。
③It's one's turn to do sth. 意為“輪到某人做某事了”。例如：
It's your turn to answer the question.
