Language Points

do with 對(duì)付; 處理

do with 常與what 連用,表示“處理;對(duì)付”等。

deal with 常與how 連用,表示“對(duì)付;應(yīng)付;處理;論及”等。

e.g. I don’t know what they will do with the problem.

=I don’t know how they will deal with the problem.

divide  v. 分開(kāi); 分割; 使產(chǎn)生分歧

辨析:divide 與separate

separate 指把原來(lái)連在一起或靠近的部分分隔開(kāi)。

divide 是指把一個(gè)整體分成若干部分,常用短語(yǔ)為divide... into...“把……分成……”。

e.g. Let’s divide all the students into six groups.

讓我們把全部學(xué)生劃分成六組。

Junior high school days are over and it’s hard to separate from our dear teachers and classmates.

初中的日子結(jié)束了, 很難與親愛(ài)的老師和同學(xué)們分離。

throw away 扔掉; 錯(cuò)過(guò); 浪費(fèi)(金錢(qián)) 

throw away 是一個(gè)動(dòng)副型詞組,代詞作賓語(yǔ)時(shí)一定要放在兩詞之間。

e.g. It can be reused—don’t throw it away.

它能夠被再次使用—不要把它扔了。

Who wants to eat food that is thrown away as waste?

誰(shuí)想吃被當(dāng)作垃圾扔掉的食物?

3... and it is harmful to our environment.

harmful adj. 有害的

harm n. 損害   do harm to 對(duì)……有害

be harmful to 相當(dāng)于do harm to 或be bad for,意為“對(duì)……有害”。

e.g. Watching TV too much is harmful to our eyes.

= Watching TV too much does harm to our eyes.

=Watching TV too much is bad for our eyes.

看電視太多對(duì)我們的眼睛有害。

4.Repeat these three words daily: reduce, reuse and recycle.

repeat /rɪ'pi t / v. 重說(shuō); 重新做

repeat 本身已表示“再一次”之意,因此不能與again 連用。

e.g. Don’t repeat it. 不要重復(fù)了。

The teacher asked him to repeat what she had said.

老師要他重復(fù)她所說(shuō)的話。
