It is said the sandwich was invented in England in the 18th century by John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich.
He asked his servants to prepare a chunk (大塊) of meat between two slices of bread, so that he could carry on gambling without stopping to eat.
Language Points
1.by mistake為介詞短語，意為“無意中；錯(cuò)誤地”,相當(dāng)于accidentally。
例句：
►I missed the school bus by mistake this morning.

►I took your pen by mistake. 我錯(cuò)拿了你的鋼筆。

mistake還可以構(gòu)成短語：
make a mistake/make mistakes犯錯(cuò)誤；
mistake…for… 把……錯(cuò)認(rèn)成……。例句：
►Don’t make mistakes any more. 別再出錯(cuò)了。
►I mistook her for our English teacher.
我把她錯(cuò)認(rèn)成我們的英語老師了。
2.The customer thought the potatoes were not thin enough. 顧客認(rèn)為土豆不夠薄。
enough修飾名詞時(shí)，不需要倒裝。
如: 我有足夠的錢。
餐廳里的食物不太夠。
►There isn’t enough food in the dinning hall.
其修飾形容詞、副詞要倒裝。
►He wrote carefully enough to get the award of the competition.
enough常可以和詞組so...that，too...to轉(zhuǎn)換。
如：他跑得不夠快，趕不上其他人了。
用enough
►He didn’t run fast enough to catch up with the others.
用so...that
►He ran so slowly that he couldn’t catch up with the others.
用too...to
►He ran too slowly to catch up with the others.

用一個(gè)短語表達(dá)可以用at last 。
