warn
動(dòng)詞（及物）( warned; warned; warning)
警告;告誡;提醒
Eg.
1.He warned me against going outside alone at night.
他提醒我晚上不要單獨(dú)出去。
2. The police warned us not to go out at night.
警察告誡我們夜間不要出門。
常見用法：
1.warn off 警告...不得靠近 ...
2.warn sb. to do sth.提醒某人做某事。
3.warn sb. not to do sth.警告某人不要做某事
4.warn sb. of 警告某人某事，就是告訴某人
什么事情有危險(xiǎn)等等，讓他提防一點(diǎn)的意思。
I will never try to catch the falling dinosaur.
句中的falling 是現(xiàn)在分詞作定語，意思是“正落下的”，修飾后面的名詞dinosaur。過去分詞也有這種用法。如：
Don’t wake up the sleeping boy.
不要叫醒那個(gè)熟睡的孩子。
The broken computer hasn’t been fixed yet.
那臺(tái)壞電腦還沒修好呢。
現(xiàn)在分詞或過去分詞短語作定語時(shí)則應(yīng)該放在
它們所修飾的名詞之后。如：
Do you know the girl singing in the room?
你認(rèn)識(shí)正在房間里唱歌的那個(gè)女孩嗎？
The table covered with paper is red.
用紙蓋著的桌子是紅色的。
