幸運(yùn)數(shù)字一直以來(lái)在中國(guó)的文化中扮演著重要的角色，紫禁城據(jù)說就有9999個(gè)房間。另外，在挑選住所、電話號(hào)碼，甚至在挑選生日的時(shí)候，吉祥數(shù)字都是要考慮的因素。偶數(shù)要比奇數(shù)更加吉祥。“2”意味著“和諧”，“6”寓意“順利”。最大的個(gè)位奇數(shù)“9”代表了“長(zhǎng)久”。
但“8”才是最為吉祥的數(shù)字。數(shù)字“8”與廣東話中的“發(fā)”是諧音，意味著繁榮、財(cái)富和地位。盡管對(duì)數(shù)字的這種認(rèn)識(shí)起源于南方，但現(xiàn)在這個(gè)觀念在北方也很流行。在北京，如果想得到含有多個(gè)“8”的電話號(hào)碼，必須要多付錢。房地產(chǎn)項(xiàng)目中的8也很搶手，而面向外國(guó)顧客銷售的樓盤一般都不設(shè)13層，面向中國(guó)人的則不設(shè)4層和14層。
