To learn to write about what you did last weekend.

Examples:

1. I think snakes are scary because some of them are poisonous.

2. Well, I think sharks are scary because they can bite and kill people.

3. I think spiders are scary because they look horrible.

Read the article again and answer the questions below.

1. How was Lisa’s weekend?

It was interesting but scary.

2. Where did Lisa and her family go last weekend?

They went to a small village in India.

3. How did Lisa feel when she saw the snake?

She was so scared that she couldn’t move.

4. What did Lisa and her sister do?

They shouted to their parents.

5. What did their parents do? Why did they do that?

Her father jumped up and down to scare the snake.

6. What lesson did Lisa learn from the weekend?

Don’t go near snakes./ Snakes can’t hear but they can feel movements.

Language points

1. two weeks ago 兩星期前,一段時間 +ago意為“多長時間之前”,是表達過去的時間。

它常與一般過去時態(tài)連用。

e.g. We visited the Natural History Museum three days ago.  

三天前,我們參觀了自然歷史博物館。

【辨析】before 意為“在……之前”,其后可以跟一個時間的點;表示“在某個時間點之前”,但不一定用于一般過去時態(tài)。

e.g. I usually go to school before seven.

我常在七點鐘前去上學(xué)。

此外,before也可以單獨用,意為“以前”,可用于一般過去時態(tài)中。

2. There we put up tents and made a fire to keep us warm and cook food on.

在那里我們架起帳篷,生火取暖并做飯。

注意固定搭配的用法:

put up tents         搭帳篷

made a fire           生火

keep us warm       取暖

cook food on fire  在火上做飯

3.  But  I was so tired that I went to sleep early.

但是我太累了,所以就早早睡了。

I was so scared that I couldn’t move.

我太害怕了,以至于一動都不敢動。

“ so+形容詞+that 句子”,表示“太……以至于……”

e.g. The soup was so delicious that he drank it up. 這湯太美味了,以至于他喝了個精光。

4. wake up“喚醒”;賓語可以是名詞或代詞; 

名詞可以放在wake up的后面或中間; 

代詞的話應(yīng)放于 wake up 的中間。

e.g. 早上你常什么時候醒來?

When do you usually wake up? 

不要如此大聲說話,你會將他們吵醒。

Don’t speak so loud. You’ll wake them up. 

5.see/watch/feel/hear sb. doing sth. 

看到/觀察到/覺得/聽到某人正在做某事 

e.g. We can hear water running from the mountain.

我們能聽到水從山上流下來的聲音。
