be doing...when... 正在做……這時(shí)……
(教材P2)I was looking at the photos on the noticeboard when I heard a voice behind me.
我正在瀏覽公告欄上的圖片,這時(shí)聽見背后有人說話。
句中的when是并列連詞,意為“就在這時(shí)”。相當(dāng)于and then或and at the same time。
be about to do...when... 正要做……這時(shí)……
be on the point of doing...when... 正要做……這時(shí)……
had just done...when... 剛做了……這時(shí)……
①He was sleeping when there was a knock at the door.
他正在睡覺,這時(shí)有人敲門。

too...to do sth. 太……而不能做某事
(教材P3)I had been too nervous to pay attention when he introduced himself!
他做自我介紹時(shí),我太緊張沒怎么注意。
too...to do sth.“太……而不能做某事”,此處是一個(gè)表示否定意義的句型。too后面通常接形容詞或者副詞。
(1)某些形容詞與“too... to...”句型連用時(shí),too(= very)表示肯定的意義。這些形容詞多為表示情感的詞,如glad, pleased, surprised, delighted, happy, easy, willing, ready, eager, anxious等。
(2)當(dāng)在too前加上only, but, all, simply或just時(shí),“too...to”結(jié)構(gòu)表示肯定意義,此時(shí)too帶有贊賞的感情色彩。
(3)“too... to...”結(jié)構(gòu)和never, not等否定副詞連用時(shí),表示肯定意義,意為“無論……也不過分,越……越好”。
